Emergency Centre Management
As specialist emergency physicians, we are trained to perform point-of-care ultrasound and ultrasound-guided central vascular access procedures.
We currently provide these services to several private hospitals in Cape Town. Diagnostic ultrasound is utilised in a variety of clinical scenarios including polytrauma. The use of point-of-care ultrasound within the emergency centre has been shown to increase diagnostic and therapeutic accuracy across a range of acute medical and surgical conditions. Furthermore, ultrasound guidance for vascular access has demonstrated improved first-pass success and a reduction in patient complications.
MD Courses offers a point-of-care ultrasound course, basic emergency medicine ultrasound, and clinical emergency medicine ultrasound. Our instructors are accredited with the Emergency Medicine Society of South Africa (EMSSA), as point-of-care ultrasound instructors, and all of the medical officers employed with MD Inc have point-of-care ultrasound training.
